Symptoms and Signs

Diagnostic Tests

Hyperventilation

Dizziness, rapid breathing

Measurement of oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood.

Postural Hypotension

Dizziness upon standing, blurred vision, possible loss of consciousness

Orthostatic tilt test

Anaemia

Fatigue, pallor, dizziness, lack of concentration

Blood tests: haemoglobin, ferritin

Hypoxia

Dizziness, difficulty breathing, confusion

Pulse oximetry

Carotid Sinus Hypersensitivity

Dizziness when turning the neck, possible fainting

Carotid sinus massage manoeuvre with blood pressure monitoring

Epilepsy

Dizziness accompanied by seizures, loss of consciousness

Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Medications

Dizziness, grogginess, changes in blood pressure

Review of medication list and adjustment as necessary
